Saturn plans to keep its gorgeous Sky roadster fresh by offering two appearance packages in 2009. The first "special" Sky just went down the assembly line in Wilmington, Delaware. It was sent to Detroit to be photographed for marketing purposes, according to Saturn spokesman Mike Morrissey.

CarList.com's Bob Plunkett reviewed the Saturn Astra 3-door and enjoyed how well it drove. He described that the "rack and pinion steering produces a lively feeling to the wheel and the suspension system - with independent MacPherson struts up front and a semi-independent torsion beam in back with coil springs - creates a nimble and smooth-riding platform."

Astra Features a Good Balance of Space and Efficiency

Nelson Ireson from MotorAuthority.com drove the compact Saturn Astra and appreciated the car's space and efficiency, as well as its handling prowess and interior quality. "The soft-but-not-too-soft feel of most of the interior surfaces is pleasing," he wrote, "and should prove easy to maintain, while the cloth seats are attractive and comfortable."

Earlier this week, Marty Hogan, Saturn Vue 2-Mode Hybrid chief engineer posted an interesting story over at ImSaturn.com about the brake system that was developed for the dual-mode Vue. "The 2009 Vue 2 Mode Hybrid will be equipped with an advanced brake system that stops or slows the vehicle using traditional friction braking, regenerative braking, or any mixture in between," he wrote.

You may remember reading a report on SaturnFans.com last month about Saturn removing its catchy "Green Line" label from its hybrid vehicles beginning with its 2009 model year vehicles. Well, the Detroit Free Press published a story about the same topic earlier today, but added an interesting point that makes it worthwhile to revisit the subject again: Saturn will soon offer more types of hybrids than any other automaker.

My wife is so excited! One of her favorite television shows, Project Runway, is set to return for its fifth season tonight on NBC's Bravo cable network. She's been a huge fan since the show began, and admittedly, as a result of some good product placement, I am now too. You see Saturn is a huge sponsor and supporter of Project Runway. Up until a day or two ago, things had been pretty quiet about the upcoming season, but the show's fans – including my wife – have been counting down the days to the start of Season 5... much like how Saturn fans look forward to the launch of a new model.

Outlook's Fuel Economy Gets Even Better for '09

Saturn revealed via its ImSaturn blog that the 2009 Outlook, which will come equipped with a new General Motors 3.6L direct injection six-cylinder engine, will offer both more horsepower and better fuel economy than in past model years. The new powerplant boosts horsepower ratings in the crossover (up to 288 in XR models and 281 in the XE).

GM's Fairfax Plant Revs Up for Fuel-Efficient Aura, Changeover to '09 Model Planned for Tomorrow

The Kansas City Business Journal reports that General Motors is planning to start building the 2009 Saturn Aura beginning this Friday. In addition, the plant been given approval to work overtime to increase production. For '09, the 2.4L Aura will offer customers a class-leading 33 mpg EPA fuel economy rating.
