Have You Experienced the Ignition Switch Issue?
We're interested in talking to owners of 2003-2007 Saturn Ions who have had their ignition replaced or have experienced the engine shutoff problems. In addition, according the NBC News, there were also about 500 people in the country who were given one of the plastic plugs (shown above) a few years ago to put into their key ring from GM. Did anyone get one of these?
General Motors Ignition Switch Recall Notice Being Sent to Saturn Ion and Sky Owners
SaturnFans.com has obtained a copy of the letter being sent out to Ion owners impacted by the ignition switch recall. The bottom line: replacement parts are not available and if you have to drive your car make sure you remove the key fob and any other keys to eliminate any excess weight on the ignition key.
NHTSA Investigating Saturn Ion Steering Defect
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation to determine whether General Motors should have also recalled the Saturn Ion when it recalled the Chevrolet Cobalt for a power steering defect back in 2010. Michigan Live reports that the government agency has received "846 complaints about power steering problems in Saturn Ions from the 2004-2007 model years."
Saturn Ion and Sky Now Included in GM's Faulty Ignition Switch Recall
General Motors is expanding the recall of certain 2003-2007 model year vehicles to correct a condition with the ignition switch that may allow the key to unintentionally move or switch to the "accessory" or "off" position, turning off the engine and most of the electrical components on the vehicle.
Some 2006-07 Saturn Ions Recalled
General Motors is recalling certain model year 2006 Saturn Ion vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of Arizon and Nevada. Model year 2007 Ions originally sold or currently registered in the states of Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, and Texas are also impacted by the campaign.

Vue to Feature New 'Rollover' Air Bag

SaturnFans.com has learned that GM plans to offer a new side-curtain air bag designed to help protect passengers better in a rollover accident. Within the next year, the Detroit News reports that five GM SUVs will offer a new, optional side-curtain airbag that will stay inflated for a longer period of time in the event of a rollover.
2006 Saturn Preview
Continuous improvement has always been a hallmark of Saturn, and for the 2006 model year things are no different. Automotive News reported earlier this year that Saturn informed retailers at the North American Dealer Association's (NADA) annual convention that both the Ion and Vue will be "refreshed" for 2006 to help make them more competitive and appealing.
New Saturn Radios Feature Auxiliary Audio Inputs

Music lovers will find it easier to take their favorite tunes on the road thanks to a new family of radios that will be offered in the Saturn Ion, Vue, and other GM vehicles starting later this year. The new radios include an auxiliary channel and front mounted auxiliary input jack, so that an iPod or other audio source can be easily plugged in and played through the vehicle audio system.
